Recognize the kinds of errors that polished writing can hide.

The short version
AI writes smoothly whether it is right or wrong, and it will turn a maybe into a definitely without noticing. Confidence in the writing tells you nothing. Check each important sentence against the source, in both directions: does the source support it, and did it leave something out?
The idea
Smooth writing can be wrong. An answer may turn ‘proposed’ into ‘agreed’ or ‘by April’ into ‘on 1 April.’ Each change can alter the legal point while leaving the prose easy to read.
What to check
Do not use tone as a test of truth. Check each important claim against the source. Ask two questions: Does the source support this claim? Did the answer leave out a fact or limit that changes it?
A model's confidence score is not proof. Nor does a second model's agreement settle the point. Both may repeat the same error.
Examples are teaching material. For legal rules, read the current primary text linked below. A revision date does not certify every claim.
